Environmental Hotel Cards - Not worth the recycled paper it's printed on!

Just a quick little rant but one that makes a massive impact on my opinion of the hotel I am staying in and the environment.

Hotels, why is it that you put the little environmental card in the bathroom asking guests to make a decision about whether or not they want their towels washing and then pretty much every time ignore the fact that they are hanging on the rail and go ahead and wash them anyway?

I am sure that the only effect these cards are currently having on the environment is that more trees are being chopped down to produce the 'environmentally friendly message'.

Please lets make an impact by only washing the towels that guest leave in the bath just like you ask.
