Alternative Top 5 London Boozers
Some of these gems would never make it onto a top 5 list without a little help from a friendly hospitality worker (me)
So without further ado, let me present the best boozers in London!
Best Slightly Dodgy Local
The Hope, Rye Lane, Peckham
A star of a landlady who runs the pub with an iron fist. The usual suspects behind the bar and several big screens for football. Very convenient for a quick getaway due to it's proximity to Peckham Station
Best Bridging The Generation Gap Local
The Marquis of Granby, New Cross Road, New Cross
I once spent 12 consecutive hours in this pub and had profound conversations with several pensioners and their dogs. The MoG is right next to Goldsmiths Uni and it's that unique mix of punter that makes it a legend in South East London. Great beers, a pool table, big screens and a very eclectic jukebox!
Best Outdoor Drinking
The Toucan, Soho
It's tiny upstairs bar means that come rain or shine there are always people congregating on the pavement outside The Toucan. Great for watching the sights of Soho
Best Sunday Dinner
The Uplands, Upland Road, East Dulwich
A great Sunday dinner for less than 8 quid and curiously the women from bad girls who played Jim Fenners girlfriend works behind the bar!
Best Proper Boozer In a Market
The Market Porter, Borough Market, London Bridge
Market law decrees that market stall holders head to the pub at 10am. This place is packed all day from then on and is right in the middle of the buzz of the market.
