Love or loathe it, Valentine’s Day is unavoidable…and nowhere more so than in hospitality. It’s a key date in any bar or restaurant’s calendar, with some taking quite a unique approach in order to stand out. With only a few days to go, here are a few ideas that have caught my eye:
Sauterelle – one of D&D London’s flagship restaurants and an Ignite favourite – has engaged in a unique partnership with Boodles fine jewellery – offering a decadent six-course menu with a 1.5-carot diamond ring thrown in. At £6, 250 – you’d need to be pretty confident she’d say yes!
At the other end of the spectrum – Bounce in Holborn is hosting an anti-Valentine’s party in partnership with Tinder. Slow dancing and handholding are replaced by swipe-right, round the table Tinder madness (a sure-fire way to boost… or devastate your ego).
A good move from Bounce – we could imagine relationships turning sour over some over-competitive games of Ping-Pong, so targeting the singletons seems wise!
Somewhere between these two extremes, Bobo Social on Charlotte Street is serving heart-shaped burgers as part of a great value set menu (£30 per person) with accompanying live music. Perhaps an option for those in a comfortable relationship who wouldn’t mind seeing their other half unattractively forcing down a 6oz peanut butter burger with some skin-on, beef dripping Bobo fries.
