London’s largest cocktail party has just begun and that means all the best and brightest from the UK drinks scene are coming together to share stories, discuss current trends and celebrate the art of making cocktails. Experts from every side of the industry will be on-hand to deliver seminars and masterclasses that everyone can learn from.
In its fifth consecutive year, London Cocktail Week 2014 hosts an overwhelming amount of fun events – from unique experiences like being a part of the World’s Largest Rum Tasting to £4 cocktails at more than 200 partnering bars across the city.
And while this week gives libation lovers all over the city an opportunity to celebrate and raise a glass together with friends and colleagues in London, it’s also an important time of year for those working in the industry – in the UK and beyond.
So sip away, but listen up – here’s our Bright Sparks guide for those who want to expand their knowledge during this year’s LCW:
Seminar: “Four Trends Igniting the On-Trade with Imbibe Magazine” – We like this not only because it says “igniting” (although that make us smile), but also because we are genuinely excited to hear what Imbibe’s Clinton Cawood and Laura Foster have to share about what trends are on the horizon in the ever-changing sea of drinks and the places that serve them well.*
Masterclass: Vestal Voyages (World’s First Floating Distillery)– This is not only one of the coolest ones on the week’s list, but each day this floating bar will partner with other independent brands to showcase how their spirits work together.
Pop-Up: Silver Screen Drinkorium– The main centre of all-things cocktail during the week, this is the ideal place to try cocktails by many of the partner brands for the event. Described to have “decadent twists on classic cocktails and a full G&T menu with Fever-Tree mixers,” this makes for a great mix of what you can see around LCW in one place, accompanied with some live piano music.
Seminar: “How Much Can You Support?” – This trade talk aims to discuss ways brands and bars can work together in creative and engaging ways to help grow their businesses. From social media to unique promotions and events, Maverick Drinks is sure to show how the hospitality side can partner with brands to drive the the industry’s greatest result – loyalty.*
Party: World’s 50 Best Bar Awards– Six years in, these awards are seen in the industry as the definitive list of the best bars globally. This event on Thursday night will no doubt be a huge celebration as well as a chance to meet some of the faces behind your favourite watering holes. You can also follow the countdown on Twitter @WorldsBestBars.
(*These are for trade wristbands only.)
